The drawing displayed is one of seven from my HSC Visual Arts Body of Work titled ‘Where reason adheres to failure, rationality ceases to exist’. The artwork is composed of ink and pen on stonehenge paper. It is an appropriated extract from the work of Dutch graphic artist M.C Escher, ‘Metamorphose’. The original depicting a hive of bees was manipulated, drawing inspiration from Leonardo Da Vinci’s foetus sketches. The artwork expresses the notion of sleep and the subconscious in dreams.

(I accidentally deleted the original from my Photobucket album and can't find it again so here's a beautiful one by Philippe Stoop. Link.)

The Louvre Pyramid is a relatively new addition to the Louvre Museum in Paris. Designed by architect I.M Pei, the Louvre Pyramid serves as the new entrance to the museum with the aim of revitalising the cultural site. The architectural piece includes a series of glass pyramids and underground spaces. During its construction controversy arose over the pyramids’ futuristic look clashing with the classical architecture. However many would agree that the contemporary choice in material and fundamental shape of structure is sensitive to the traditional context of the site, balancing time and place with the old and new in harmony.

These cymbidium orchids grown from my very backyard are in no doubt an expression of natural beauty. The flowers blossom at the start of spring and wither away by summer in a sense implicating the fragility of nature and the idea of never lasting beauty. Numerous amounts border the garden creating colour and depth yet also attract armies of ants to its destination.
